The High Country Barbershop Chorus

We are the High Country Barbershop Chorus, White Mountains Arizona Chapter. We presently have 33 men singing in the Chorus with three quartets, The Pine Tones, Crook's Trail, and The Knotty Pines, with a youth quartet being groomed to be at performance level. One of our Mission objectives is to support the Youth In Harmony program.

Our current director, Doc Dockendorf, started the Chapter in 2000, and we are proud that 2010 marks our 10th Anniversary Year. Each year we hold a Barbershop Harmony show at an area high school auditorium – currently Show Low District Auditorium. The show is held in July, which is a great time of the year because of our beautiful cool weather. Our shows feature top quartet talent from around the Society and in the past has headlined O.C. Times, the 2008 International Champions, and Over Time, the 2000 International Senior Champion Quartet, among others.

The High Country Barbershop Chorus has a close working partnership with Northland Pioneer College (NPC), and the chapter's meeting night rehearsal is the Music 199 course at the college, with chorus members receiving college credit for attending. Everett Robinson, Media Relations Coordinator, is the NPC representative on the Chapter Board of Directors.

The Chapter has a Community Service Initiative, which includes a semi-annual road cleanup, entertaining at local nursing homes, singing at community events such as Flag Day, Veterans Day, Christmas Tree lighting, Fourth of July Parade, Christmas shows held at Wal-Mart, and providing Singing Valentines for the White Mountain Community.
