President – Jerry Schrunk
Jerry and his wife Jane became permanent residents of the White Mountain community after many years in the Phoenix Valley. A few years prior to retirement the couple had researched many Arizona communities in which to buy a second home, with an eye toward later retirement. The Show Low / Pinetop area won.
Like many of the chorus members, Jerry’s prior singing experience was primarily in High School. He has served in many areas of the chorus, and is currently in charge of the web site, wmhcbc.com.
Past President – Millard Bolt
Millard and his wife Nicole made the decision to live full-time in the beautiful White Mountains after having spent five summers here in the cool pines (Tucson heat gets old). Millard’s barbershop experience began with the Peninsulaires in 1985 and continued with the Bay Area Metro chorus until his retirement in 1994. They then moved to the foothills of the Sierra where Millard acted, sang, and danced in more than 350 Sierra Repertoire Company performances. After moving to Tucson in 2006, he helped found the Sunflower Chorale and conducted the group for its first five years. Finding the High Country Barbershop Chorus was a real “gold nugget” for him, and he is looking forward to many years of association and service. Millard served as President of the chorus board for 2016 and 2017.
VP Membership –Duane Krause
Duane is the librarian for the chorus music library. He also assisted with Public Relations in 2017. Duane will be the Membership VP for 2018. His musical claim to fame includes being selected after audition to sing in the Minnesota Allstate Choir in 1961. He beat his opponent on the TV show Name That Tune in 1985 but missed the $100,000 final round to move on to the next show. He and his wife Karon and two sons have lived in Arizona since 1983 except for a few years in Maine. Before retiring he managed one of Arizona’s largest HOA’s, 1,665 homes and amenities with nearly 3,000 “happy” senior citizens. He is a USAF veteran, working on the B-52 electronic counter measures equipment and is the Judge Advocate for American Legion Post 76 in Show Low.

He is retired from the United States Military: Army, Air force, Air National Guard with a total of 27 years of service.
He said, “ My only regret is that I didn’t have another 20 years to serve. But the best time of my life was and is my family. I give many thank yous to the High Country Barbershop Chorus for teaching and supporting me all these years. Here, I’m sure, I can serve another 20 years. My dear departed wife, Katie Burden, would like that. She too, loved barbershop!
VP Music – Jim Bohart
Jim and his wife Pat have been coming up to the White Mountains to spend their summers for the past seven years. Finding the White Mountain Barber Shop Chorus was icing on the cake for Jim as he enjoys singing tight four part harmonies. Since they are only up here in the summer Jim has to get the most out the time he has with the guys in the chorus. He accepted the position on MVP in order to give something back to the chorus. When not singing he enjoys reading, riding his bike, walking, playing the trumpet, and maybe just a little golf. He says that he is proud to be part of the leadership team of the HCBC.
